Job Description Summary

The position involves performing and supporting cutting edge research in biomedical image analysis, with emphasis on techniques for the segmentation, registration and morphometric analysis of anatomical structures as well as their application in the conduct of research imaging studies.  Applicants with expertise in neuroimaging processing and analysis, machine learning and statistical methods for image-based inference, C++ programming with open-source software such as ANTs, itkSnap, DTI-TK,  DSI-Studio, NODDI, are preferred.

Job Description

The Research Investigator Sr (SRI) will act in a leadership role, overseeing and designing advanced experiments. He/She will assist the Principal Investigator and play a leading role in developing a research program in the advancement of specific area of study and will play a crucial role both in all aspects of research products including development, implementation, and data analysis. The position involves performing and supporting cutting edge research in biomedical image analysis, with emphasis on techniques for the segmentation, registration and morphometric analysis of anatomical structures as well as their application in the conduct of research imaging studies.  The candidate will collaborate with investigators at the Penn Image Computing and Science Laboratory (PICSL) to provide dedicated support to the CNS imaging laboratory at the Center for Advanced Retinal and Ophthalmic Therapeutics (CAROT). The position will involve developing imaging-based biomarkers of eye disease through functional and structural analyses of human brain responses before and after retinal gene therapy.The applicant must have a PhD or equivalent degree with 2 or more years of postdoctoral experience, an excellent background in biomedical and/or computational sciences, and a strong track record of research in biomedical image analysis, with publications in the field’s major forums.  Applicants with expertise in neuroimaging processing and analysis, machine learning and statistical methods for image-based inference, C++ programming with open-source software such as ANTs, itkSnap, DTI-TK,  DSI-Studio, NODDI, etc are preferred. Individuals with knowledge in MATLAB, Unix, Python programming and skills in shell scripting are especially encouraged to apply. Finally, the SRI will be responsible for data analysis, preparation of manuscripts, and presenting research findings through various forums. Senior Research Investigator must demonstrate the ability to analyze and present data in professional "publication ready" format and to be able to independently prepare manuscripts and grant writings for submission. This position is contingent on funding.

Qualifications

Highly advanced professional discipline. Ph. D., or equivalent doctoral degree and 5 years of experience required.
