COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER, MIT Sandbox Innovation Fund Program (MIT Sandbox), to serve as a communications and content manager with responsibility for coordinating and creating content for the program and its international sister programs and for marketing, communication, and engagement functions.  These responsibilities are critical to Sandbox’s sustainability and growth within the MIT community and internationally as it helps other institutions implement equivalent programs to expand the experience of MIT students (e.g., Explorer program in Morocco).  Will lead the execution of Sandbox communication and marketing activities and the creation and implementation of content and materials; develop strategies for outbound marketing and communication in order to deepen and broaden Sandbox relationships; network and influence relationships through Sandbox marketing and group communications with target audiences to achieve communication and marketing objectives; partner with the executive director on communications and materials to the funding board, MIT, and UM6P (Mohammed VI Polytechnic University) senior leadership and to students and mentors; and establish tracking tools for and creates a strategy to update and maintain the Sandbox Websites.

The MIT Sandbox provides meaningful seed funding of up to $25,000 for student-initiated ideas, mentoring from within MIT and from a broad network of committed partners, and tailored educational experiences.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in a related field; at least five years’ communications or marketing experience; ability to work in a team-oriented environment; excellent organizational, execution, interpersonal, presentation, and oral and written communication skills; experience with a CMS; proficiency with standard data management software such as Microsoft Office, G Suite, and SurveyMonkey; and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work occasional evening and weekend hours.  

This a two-year term position that will be reviewed yearly.
