Position Focus:

Provide specialized nursing support to the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Division, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences. Work responsibilities include clinical care team, procedure/recovery rooms and third party activities. The ideal candidate will have the flexibility to cover clinical locations in New Haven, CT and Westport, CT and weekends/holidays on rotational basis.

The ideal candidate will have the flexibility to meet the needs of the 7 days/week clinical practice, with rotational coverage.

Essential Duties

  1. Plans, directs, and implements the daily activities of patient care.
  2. Contributes to developing, implementing and evaluating policies and procedures related to nursing.
  3. Contributes to developing, implementing , evaluating and revising research protocols related to nursing as indicated.
  4. Provides patient and family education on appropriate disease process to include, but not limited to signs and symptoms, treatment, purpose and side effects of medications.
  5. Follows-up on patient lab results and work with clinical faculty to develop a follow-up plan that is communicated to the patient and family.
  6. Serves as the primary contact for all patients and their family concerning management and treatment of their disease by arranging for prescription refills, telephone follow-up, clinical visits, home care visits, and emergency room visits.
  7. Collaborates with other health care professionals and service providers to ensure optimal patient care.
  8. Creates and maintains effective, positive customer service relationships by identifying patient and family needs, ensuring that needs are met and responding appropriately to difficult interactions.
  9. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and 3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Strong focus on superior customer service to our patients and faculty.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Extreme attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Ability to learn conscious sedation procedures. 

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Ability to learn/teach medical protocols to patients.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Infertility experience preferred. Previous conscious sedation experience preferred. Previous experience teaching medical protocols to patients.

Required Licenses or Certifications 

Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of CT.
