Applications are invited for an experienced academic to join the education team at Northumbria University. Working within the Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing. Education as a subject area is a large and diverse discipline, which includes post graduate studies for qualified teachers and academic colleagues new to Northumbria. The subject area also includes undergraduate early years and childhood studies, as well as a range of initial teacher education programmes.  You will be required to teach across a number of programmes, including MA Education, PG Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) and initial teacher education. You will contribute to all aspects of the academic development of students, as well as liaising with academic colleagues across the university undertaking continuing professional development.

You must be able to demonstrate knowledge of effective approaches to innovative higher education learning and teaching. You should have experience of supporting the teaching and learning of students on post graduate Education programmes, including UK initial teacher education.

You will be doctorally qualified in the field of Education. You must have subject expertise in teaching and learning in both higher education and schools, with specialist knowledge gained through research activity and teaching experience within the higher education sector. Proven ability to deliver high quality research led teaching within an appropriate field and a strong research profile are essential for this role. You will have fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. Qualified Teacher Status would be an advantage.

Working in the Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing, you will be a member of a vibrant academic community that is multi-disciplinary, with social justice at the heart of what we do. You will work flexibly as part of a team, to contribute to teaching, research, enterprise and engagement. Your role may involve Programme Leadership within the department, and teaching in the area of Education, and you may be required to undertake teaching and leadership roles across the department.
