About the Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE)
The Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) is a unique interdisciplinary Research Centre of Excellence (RCE), funded by National Research Foundation, Singapore Ministry of Education, Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore. Hosted by NTU in partnership with NUS, SCELSE is linking new insights from the life sciences with expertise from the emerging technologies in engineering and natural sciences to understand, harness and control microbial biofilm communities.
Job Descriptions:
We are offering the following research officer position under the SGUnited Traineeships scheme at SCELSE Advanced Biofilm Imaging Facility (ABIF). The successful candidate will join the staff of ABIF in carrying out regular imaging facility operations, which involves diverse tasks such as making sure that all equipment in the facility is in an optimal working order, troubleshooting problems with the equipment and related IT infrastructure or assisting facility users with their experiments and image data analysis. During the traineeship the candidate will develop skills and gain experience valuable for future career in academic core facilities as well as scientific instrumentation industry. Requirements:
- BSc or equivalent in life sciences, physics, biomedical engineering or related fields.
- Hands-on experience with optical microscopy is desirable
- Experience with scientific image processing is preferred
- Willingness to learn new skills ranging from scientific instrument maintenance or computational data processing to handling biological samples
- Good presentation skills, user-oriented approach and ability to communicate with people of different backgrounds and levels of expertise
- Strong command of English (written and spoken) is essential

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
