The University of Chicago's Department of Public Health Sciences is searching for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor biostatistician. The successful applicant will serve as a senior statistician in the National Cancer Institute’s National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) program, collaboratively providing expertise in statistical design and analysis to clinical trials and cancer biologic research, and will also develop and implement novel statistical methodology, contribute to the educational program in statistical methods for clinical trials and related research.  This individual will undertake lead statistical support for the Brain Tumor Committee of the NCTN group NRG Oncology, specifically:

• Leadership of a team consisting of an MS level statistician, data manager, and protocol coordinator 
• Leadership within the NRG Oncology Brain Tumor Committee as a voting member, guiding the research agenda and priorities
• Oversight of statistical design, implementation, interim monitoring, and reporting of all NRG brain tumor phase I, II, and III clinical trials (current portfolio consists of 15 trials)
• Responsibility for leading interactions with NCI, FDA, and industry partners for ongoing and developing NRG Oncology brain tumor studies
• Expert input on brain tumor research throughout the NCTN, including participation on the NCI Brain/CNS Malignancy Steering Committee, NCI and FDA sponsored workshops, and interactions with other NCTN groups and research entities (SPOREs, foundations) on research partnerships and shared resources
• Oversight and statistical leadership in translational research projects using tumor specimens and other materials from the NCTN biobank
• Development and implementation of contemporary and novel statistical methodology for clinical trials and translational research. Presentation and publication of statistical methodology research. Particular interest is in modern biomarker-based clinical trial designs that suit the precision medicine paradigm in cancer

Compensation, including a generous package of fringe benefits, is dependent upon qualifications.

We especially welcome applicants with expertise in modern clinical trial design, experience with studies that incorporate cancer biomarkers with an aim towards precision therapy development, and ability to design and analyze accompanying translational science research.  While we prefer to appoint at the associate professor level, we will consider exceptional assistant professor candidates with research methodology experience in relevant areas.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: hold PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, or the equivalent. Also required is familiarity with all aspects of trial conduct (protocol writing, forms design, monitoring, etc.), and ability to supervise individuals carrying out these roles in the management of an active portfolio of ongoing and developing clinical trials
