Job Description Summary
This position provides financial, operational and analytical decision support to the Widener Large Animal Hospital.
This position provides financial, operational, and analytical decision support to the Widener Large Animal Hospital. Performs general ledger review, financial reporting and budget analysis; prepares month end financial close documentation, including reconciliations, journal entries and financial statements. Handles large amounts of data; utilizes data analytic systems to model information; identifies trends; and explains variances to assist in solving complex financial problems. This position will provide support with Hospital billing processes; assist customers with billing inquiries; accept payments in person and over the phone; collection of delinquent accounts; and research accounts as requested. The nature of the work performed in this position requires a strong attention to detail and organizational skills, as well as, excellent communication and customer service skills.
Other responsibilities include:
- Performs general ledger review, financial reporting, budget analysis, and variance investigation through the management of large and complex data sets to identify business trends. Report findings to Hospital leadership
- Prepares month-end financial close documentation, including journal entries, financial statements, and reconciliations
- Collection of delinquent accounts
- Assists customers with billing inquiries; research accounts as requested
- Accepts payments in person and over the phone. Additional duties as assigned

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration and 3-5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Business Objects, and Oracle preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is necessary. Familiarity with University accounting systems a plus.
