The Australian Catholic University (ACU) in Melbourne is seeking further researchers (senior, mid and early career) of outstanding achievement in the discipline ofpolitical science to join its recently established Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences in either fixed-term (5-years) or continuing research-only positions *(see explanation note).

In the 2020 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, ACU has risen to the 351-400 band and sits in the 201-250 band for Arts and Humanities. In 2020, ACU also appeared in the CWTS Leiden Ranking for the first time and was the leading Australian university in the Humanities and Social Sciences when ranked both by the proportion of papers in the top 5% most frequently cited (a scientific quality measure) and by the proportion of papers demonstrating interinstitutional collaborative publication. Under Director Professor Joy Damousi, the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences will support ACU’s continued growth and success in the key disciplines of History, Political Science, Sociology and Literature.

Applications are welcome from outstanding scholars across subfields in Political Science with special preference for those whose research interests include comparative political economy, historical political economy, political development, and political behavior. Candidates who use quantitative methods are especially encouraged to apply. The position is open as to regional specialisation, including America.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in political science, economics, or a closely related discipline. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated record of conducting outstanding research in political science appropriate to the level for which they are applying.

*Explanation note: The Level B positions are either fixed-term (5 years) or continuing. The Level C, D and E positions are continuing. Continuing, in the Australian context, means there is no end date and would normally continue until such time as the staff member resigns or retires.
