School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering invites applications for the position of Project Officer. 

Key Responsibilities: 

The Project Officer will work on a project on the development of new fabrication methods for electronic packaging. The roles of this position include:

  • Development of composite ceramic-polymer fabrication using colloidal methods and polymer synthesis
  • Measurement of microstructural, mechanical and thermal properties
  • Optimization of the material composition and microstructure to achieve target properties
  • Development of a strategy for scale-up fabrication​

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor in Materials Science, specialization in Chemistry
  • 3 years research experience in related area
  • Expertise in synthesis of piezo and pyro-electric ceramic materials
  • Experiences in mechanical testing and thermal conduction  
  • Knowledge in colloidal assemblies, percolation and 2D materials
  • Publication track record is an advantage
  • Proficiency in English
  • Strong motivation for team-work and collaborations
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Excellent learning and experimental skills required
  • Transition to Research Fellow after PhD degree received

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
