A Research Engineer position is available in the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering.

With strong partnership and support from the Singapore Government, we are focused on applied research that directly impact the lives of citizens in Singapore. The acoustics/audio projects span across different disciplines, such as urban acoustic sensors, sound classification using deep learning, soundscape, 3D audio headphones, parametric speakers, and active noise control.

Job Description

  • Involved in the development and evaluation (including physiological measurements in collaboration with neuroscientists) of an adaptive soundscape augmentation system (i.e. network of loudspeakers)
  • Prototype development
  • 3D modeling, 3D printing, acoustic measurements, designing GUI, soldering of electronic components, and programming of embedded hardware
  • This project also employs Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed reality platforms for evaluation of the prototype system and eventual in situ deployment and evaluation in public areas

Job Requirements

  • BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or related field
  • Proficiency in programming languages in LabVIEW, Python, R, and MATLAB
  • Proficiency in English

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
