The Department of Legal Studies at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for an Assistant Professor in international human rights law. Applicants with expertise in the United Nations, human rights, protection mechanisms, and interests in the implications of international refugee and migration law are strongly preferred. The initial contract is for 6 years; continued employment depends on outcome of review.
The Department of Legal Studies promotes advanced research and education in human rights, comparative constitutional law and international business law. Its programs are among the finest in Europe, enabling master’s and doctoral students to obtain a solid grounding in fundamental legal concepts in civil law and common law systems and to develop unique skills in comparative analysis. Qualifications:
Candidates must at least have a law degree and a PhD with a focus on international human rights. Teaching experience is considered a plus but can be offset by excellent professional international human rights experience. The successful candidate will be teaching in the below-mentioned areas at the bachelor and master’s level.
Expertise in one or more of the following areas is a requirement:
- International human rights law and the United Nations human rights system;
- refugee law;
- migration law;
- international humanitarian law.
Expertise in (critical) perspectives of the Global South with regard to the above-mentioned areas is also considered an asset.
Residence
The appointment will be in Vienna.
