TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE IMechanical Engineering, to provide research support for optical imaging and deep learning towards computational imaging problems as part of the 3D Optical Systems group. Responsibilities include working with investigators to develop and validate deep learning approaches for various inverse imaging problems; applying unsupervised learning for other imaging problems; providing technical support for optical imaging experiments; monthly reporting and supporting other researchers; ensuring lab safety standards are followed; performing programming and laboratory research experiments; performing computational modeling of various optical systems; generating supervised learning algorithms for computational imaging tasks; developing and testing algorithms on unlabeled datasets; and performing other lab duties as needed. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field; at least two years’ specialized experience with qualitative data analysis and research methods; knowledge of optics, physics, and computational methods; basic knowledge of general laboratory practices and procedures; strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; attention to detail; and ability to work in collaboration with other researchers. 

PREFERRED exposure to research lab. The work may require exerting light to medium amount of force to push, pull, and lift objects weighting ten to twenty pounds and to travel long distances or move from site to site to accomplish some tasks. Job #18874
