Overview

The Library Services Centre provides innovative, high quality, customer-focused library services including digital and information literacies and the use of learning technologies, research skills, information resources, scholarly and cultural collections and learning facilities that contribute to and enhance the University’s learning, teaching and research goals. The Library delivers a wide range of online resources and services to all campuses and study locations and to clients both on and off-campus.

ECU Library has ongoing Library Technician positions available working within the Research Services team and the Library Experience team.

Research Services team – Ongoing full-time

The Research Services team works in collaboration with the Research Office and the Graduate Research School to support research staff of the university. This Library Technician role is critical in the collection, input and maintenance of data and information covering the research outputs of ECU Researchers into the institutional repository which serves to highlight and make publicly available ECU Research.

Library Experience team – Ongoing part-time 0.6 (3 roles)

Library Technicians play a vital role in service delivery within the Library Services Centre. They support a broad range of clients to resolve queries both online and face to face including resolving queries on learning technologies and online resources. Library technicians in the Library Experience team also support the management of library spaces and events and assist in administrative tasks and collaborative projects. Library Technicians may undertake evening shift and weekend duties and can be regularly assigned to different areas of responsibility at any campus library.

All Applicants will be expected to have:

A Diploma qualification in library science or a relevant discipline or equivalent with relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

Selection Criteria:

  • Proven customer service skills including supporting a broad range of clients’ needs in both online and face to face environments, marketing services to customers and continually evaluating and improving services.
  • Knowledge and experience using Customer Relationship Management systems to triage and resolve queries.
  • Knowledge and experience using Library systems, including loans, library catalogues and discovery tools.
  • Knowledge of learning and teaching technologies such as Microsoft Office, Learning management systems (LMS), video recording tools and collaborative software tools and the ability to assist students and staff access and use these technologies.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others to accomplish joint tasks and common objectives.

Benefits & Remuneration

This ongoing position attracts remuneration of $65 761 - $70 040 plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
