Brief Description

The Senior Laboratory Support Officer is responsible for coordinating the administrative activities to support the daily operations of the research laboratories, including ordering/inventory, preparing protocols, and maintenance of laboratories databases.

Detailed Description

  • Gather information to help create, prepare, and update various database documents: for equipment and inventory, fixed asset list from procurement, approved facility user list, research award grants, and facility future space allocations for equipment.
  • Assist in preparing and organizing annual equipment budgets and update database accordingly.
  • Evaluate fixed asset laboratory costs.
  • Track research laboratory budget spending and provide reports as required.
  • Direct the laboratory space utilization tracking system to keep up with space assignments, occupancy and utilization.
  • Administer the program that allows facility users to petition for space allocations and retrofits.
  • Handle internal researchers’ database and report trends that impact research infrastructure.
  • Maintain the external researchers log to include all visiting and externally sponsored researchers.
  • Maintain organized files and records that facilitate information retrieval as required.
  • Assist with meeting arrangements and special events on behalf of the ADRIC Manager.
  • Assist in preparation of miscellaneous presentations, reports and documents, gather information and provide ad-hoc administrative support when requested.
  • Monitor the performance of Research Laboratories budgets and report to the ADRIC Manager on a timely basis to ensure that variances are addressed promptly.
  • Actively support facility user, service and equipment programs that will increase usage of the laboratories.
  • Work closely with the ADRIC Manager to support effective operations, including routine support services, installation of new equipment and renovation of laboratories.
  • Ensure coordination with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed.
  • Collaborate and work with laboratory, technical and academic staff in the development of practical experiments, activities within the laboratory operations.
  • Complete the planning for activities involving laboratory preparation and demonstration of related study areas.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of practical manuals, standard operating procedures (SOP) and laboratory protocols with the ADRIC Manager and facility users.
  • Provide support with ordering of consumables, and scientific laboratory equipment for research and technical services.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of laboratories and equipment, and ensure there is appropriate availability of laboratory supplies and consumables.
  • Conduct laboratory inductions for new facility users and visitors.
  • Ensure adherence to the KU's and ADNOC's information security policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly.
  • Ensure coordination with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by Line Manager.

Job Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree in related field.

Expats:

  • A minimum 7 years of relevant experience.

UAE Nationals:

  • A minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience.
