Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the following positions in the Department of Marine and Fisheries Sciences under the School of Biological Sciences, University of Ghana.
LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/PROFESSOR IN MARINE SCIENCE WITH EXPERTISE IN PHYSICAL OCEANOGRAPHY
APPOINTMENT AS SENIOR LECTURER
For the positon of Senior Lecturer, in addition to the requirements stated above, the individual should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in an academic or research institution with at least 10 publications in reputable scientific journals (preferably scopus indexed journals) of significant global impact.
APPOINTMENT AS ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
Candidates seeking appointments as Associate Professors should have at least 8 years of relevant experience in an academic or research institution and should have published at least 18 articles in reputable peer review journals (preferably scopus indexed journals). They should have demonstrated experience in winning research grants and proven record of student supervision at the PhD level. Suitably qualified persons should be well cited by their peers in the international community and should be very visible.
APPOINTMENT AS PROFESSOR
For the position of a Professor, candidates should have at least 12 years of relevant experience in an academic or research institution and should have published at least 32 articles in reputable peer review journals (preferably scopus indexed journals). They should have demonstrated experience in winning research grants and proven record of student supervision at the PhD level. They should be well cited by their peers in the international community and should be very visible.
The preferred candidate must:
- Have a BSc in Oceanography or related discipline and a PhD in Oceanography or Coastal Engineering or related field with strong expertise in coastal processes and modelling from a reputable University;
- Demonstrate capacity to establish and lead a vibrant research team to win grants for cutting-edge research.
- Demonstrate capacity to develop national and international collaborations to support graduate level research and teaching across disciplines.
- Exhibit capacity to work in a team and promote the development of Physical Oceanography through grantsmanship and cutting-edge research.
- Not exceed 45 years of age by August 1, 2020.
