CebAI is the new National Centre for Creativity enabled by Artificial Intelligence (AI), based at our Business School, and funded by Research England and City, University of London. It will offer and sell new forms of AI and consulting services to businesses to amplify their creative capabilities, so that these businesses can innovate more regularly and successfully. It will support also these businesses to form new ecosystems that reinforce and grow their creative thinking and innovation capabilities.

Responsibilities

This software engineer role will be responsible for designing, developed, maintaining, testing and documenting the CebAI technologies needed to collect, extract, make sense of, search and manipulate very large client data and information sets, as part of the CebAI team. The software engineer will also participate in co-design activities and user evaluation work with clients, to make clients aware of the tech capabilities of the platform and understand how the platform needs to evolve.

Person Specification

The person will have degree in computer science or software engineering. Essential software development skills are backend engineering experience, Python/Node.js preferred; experience with web crawling and scraping; HTTP (REST) APIs and networking; experience working with AWS cloud computing services; search solutions (e.g. ElasticSearch); Linux, git, CI, deployment management, monitoring; experience with test frameworks across a variety of languages; strong debugging skills including the ability to reproduce a bug given limited information/time; and skills to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
