The School of Humanities is seeking to appoint one full-time fixed-term Lecturer in English to carry out teaching, associated scholarship and administrative responsibilities to the highest standard.

The successful candidate will have expertise in English Literature of the Nineteenth and Twentieth Century and will be expected to teach on the first-year unit Approaches to Poetry, the second-year unit Literature 1740-1900, and the third-year unit Victorian Fiction: Art and Ideas in the Marketplace. The successful candidate will also be expected to supervise dissertations at undergraduate and master’s levels, and to undertake other teaching and administrative duties as appropriate.

Start date: 1 September or as soon as possible thereafter

Grade: Lecturer, Pathway 3, Grade J

Salary: £38,017 - £42,792

Timescale of appointment:

Short-listed candidates will be notified on or around 13 August and invited to an online interview. They will be asked to deliver an informal presentation, for up to 10 minutes, discussing how they would approach teaching the third-year unit, Victorian Fiction: Art and Ideas in the Marketplace.

Anticipated interview date: 20 August 2020
