Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy (Ref.: 501784), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

Applicants should possess a pharmacy qualification registrable with the local Pharmacy and Poisons Board or an equivalent international regulator, and a Ph.D. degree in pharmacy, pharmacoepidemiology, clinical trials, pharmaceutical sciences, health sciences, pharmacology or molecular biology.  They should have a good track record of scholarship in a focused area proven by impactful publications, extramural grant success, research postgraduate supervision, cross-disciplinary collaborative ties, partnership with external bodies including non-profit organizations and the pharmaceutical industry, and other evidence of international recognition.  Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing curricula to prepare students adequately for the challenges in all aspects of the pharmacy field is essential. Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as Associate Professor/Assistant Professor. 

The appointee will leverage his/her own research experience and network in the creation of new initiatives for international impact and profile, conduct teaching in a variety of environments, enhance the quality of teaching and student learning experience, supervise postgraduate students and junior researchers, and take up administrative duties commensurate with the role.  For Assistant Professor, there will be opportunities for academic growth, career development and mentorship, along with protected time for educational and research activities, depending on the appointee’s interests and accomplishments.  Information about the Department can be obtained at https://www.pharma.hku.hk.  Enquiries about the duties of the post should be directed to wongick@hku.hk.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointments will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
