Job Title: Lecturer in Fashion Futures (Maternity Cover)

Location: Cardiff School of Art and Design

Location: Llandaff Campus, Cardiff

Grade and Salary: Grade 7A/B £40,322.00 - £45,361.00 per annum pro rata

Hours: 18.5 hours per week

Tenure: Fixed term until 26th February 2021 or until post holder returns whichever date is sooner.

Through the use of innovative and participatory research methods and a collaborative approach to working with external partners, our staff use their expertise to respond to challenges across a wide range of fields. Research and Innovation is defined by an overarching human-centred theme. The outstanding areas of enquiry are a fusion of Art & Science, evidenced by the Fovo lab team, the Perceptual Experience Lab, Metatechnicity, and FabCre8 research groupings. Design & Wellbeing, emanating from the work of CARIAD, the Centre for Applied Research in Inclusive Arts and Design, and the area of Sustainable Architecture and the ecological performance of new and heritage buildings.

Essential Criteria

A good honours degree

Ability to achieve Fellow Status as part of the Higher Education Academy’s Professional Recognition scheme, within agreed timescales (as soon as is practicably possible and definitely within three years of commencement of employment).

Lecturer

A good level of knowledge relevant to the subject and professional area.

Evidence of undertaking continuous professional development (CPD).

A sound understanding of pedagogy

A sound understanding of research/innovation and scholarly activity.

Knowledge of the contemporary fashion industry

Knowledge of designing and producing commercially viable collections for manufacture and production

Knowledge of fashion futures fabrics and materials, smart and wearable technology

Industry expertise in pattern cutting 3D garment development

Ability to develop teaching and / or research programmes and the provision of learning support.

Ability to design teaching and learning material.

Ability to employ appropriate assessment methods.

Ability to support the development of research objectives, projects or proposals.

Ability to employ appropriate methods for disseminating research findings.

Ability to contribute to the achievement of the School Development Plan and the development of other school activities.

Ability to undertake administrative duties in an accurate and timely fashion.

Ability to plan workloads and projects and manage resources effectively.

Ability to identify areas for improvement and to use initiative and problem solving skills to improve performance.

Ability to take responsibility for a number of key areas such as module tutor, research supervision at undergraduate level.

Ability to communicate and disseminate complex and conceptual ideas in a variety of ways – presentations at conferences, reports on findings, publications, feedback etc

Ability to develop productive working relationships as part of a professional team

Ability to work collaboratively on research projects through the development of appropriate partnerships

Ability to develop digital virtual learning content

Experience of teaching or equivalent

Experience of research or equivalent

Experience of working with others in a supervisory / guiding / supporting / mentoring capacity.

Experience of attracting or generating funds/income through a variety of sources.

Ability to demonstrate a commitment to Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, Quality Standards.
