Based in the world leading research team of the Bristol Composites Institute (ACCIS) within the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Bristol, this is an exciting opportunity to join a strong team developing morphing and adaptive stator concepts for aeroengines.
You will develop morphing stator concepts based on pneumatics and piezoelectrics actuation based on initial conceptual configurations. Demonstrators will be produced using composites manufacturing techniques and shape morphing elastomeric materials. You will be also involved in developing design guidelines and numerical models for the development at higher technology readiness level of these concept. You will interact with partners from France, Germany and Italy for the characterization and testing of the morphing and adaptive stators in aeroacoustics test rigs.
You will have at least a first degree in Engineering, and preferably a PhD in Aerospace/Engineering/Materials Science (or closely related discipline) and have good experience of manufacturing composite materials, airframe structures and morphing designs.
This post is offered on a fixed term contract with funding for up to 13 15 months.
It is anticipated that interviews will take place shortly after the closing date
