The University of Adelaide (UoA) has entered into a partnership with Ocean University of China (OUC) and Australian Education Management Group (AEMG) to develop a Joint School (Haide College) in Qingdao, China to enhance our growth and diversify our student cohort through additional pathways.

Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), the Academic Director – Haide College – provides outstanding academic and strategic leadership in the partnership between UoA and OUC, and ensuring the successful operation of Haide College. The Academic Director is responsible for ensuring effective communication and engagement with the leadership and key staff at Haide College.

The Academic Director will have oversight of the development and delivery of the UoA’s contributions to the Haide College teaching programs and is responsible for overseeing excellence in the student learning experience in courses that are taught by UoA staff at Haide College. Programs included relate to areas of Biological Science, Food Science and Mathematical Sciences.

This role will work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the UoA and OUC, and engage with industry and community partners to promote and enhance the national and international profile of UoA through Haide College. Travel to China will be required.

To be successful you will need:

  • Established reputation as a respected leader including experience in academic planning and evidence of an effective contribution to a leadership team. 
  • A strong track record of working in an international environment, particularly China.
  • Willingness and ability to teach into Haide College programs.
  • Highly developed stakeholder relationship management abilities including success in working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, influencing with tact and fostering credibility at all levels.
  • The ability to effectively manage all operational aspects of the UoA side of Haide College including demonstrated financial acumen.
  • Demonstrated experience in Australian academic education quality assurances processes.
  • PhD relevant to Haide Course programs

The ability to converse in Mandarin is desirable
