United Arab Emirates University

The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is a world-class competitive research and teaching-intensive university. The teaching and research activities in the University are currently focused within nine degree-granting colleges, supported by the College of Graduate Studies, and the University College. The colleges are the College of College of Business & Economics, the College of Education, the College of Engineering, the College of Food & Agriculture, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the College of Information Technology, the College of Law, the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the College of Science.

UAEU is the highest producer of scholarly research outputs in the UAE. In 2019 UAEU faculty produced 966 publications, and 23 patents were granted. Six hundred and twenty-three research projects are currently ongoing. Research at UAEU varies enormously in scope, size and orientation, ranging from basic to applied research; from having a budget of tens of thousands to millions of dirhams; and from focusing on a problem in a narrow field to major interdisciplinary research initiatives.

With there now being more than 100 higher education institutions in the UAE – of which UAEU is ranked first – the University now operates in a complex and competitive environment. Unlike many of the private institutions, UAEU’s development is tied very closely to the aspirations of the nation.
