SENIOR MACHINIST, Laboratory for Nuclear Science (LNS), to set up work and operate machine tools with minimal supervision. Will work to close tolerances from blue prints, specifications, verbal instructions, or sketches; and make such tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures as required. May also direct and train machinists of a lower grade.
REQUIRED: at least five years of applicable experience as a machinist, demonstrated familiarity with and a high degree of skill using commonly used machine tools; ability to lift weights of up to seventy-five pounds and to remain stationary for extended periods of time of up to two hours. The position requires precision programming and running of CNC controlled Bridgeport lathes and Bridgeport, Prototrak, and HAAS milling machines. Knowledge of programming using Mastercam would be a plus. Job #18756
