DIRECTOR, Media Lab, to serve as the next director of the Media Lab, leading it through its next chapter within a highly interdisciplinary, exceptionally talented, and creative community of faculty, staff, and students. Will serve as an effective manager of people and steward of its culture, actively fund-raise in support of current and future programs, and advance the lab’s unique structure and agenda in an uncharted era as the new dimensionalities of a global pandemic and its unknown economic consequences demand fresh thinking regarding the lab’s role within the world’s research and innovation landscape. May be considered for tenure at MIT.
Since opening its doors thirty-five years ago, the MIT Media Lab has established itself as a world leader in the design and study of innovative technologies.
REQUIRED: a strong record of leading a research organization; significant experience and successful track record in financial management and fund-raising; excellent communication skills and ability to tell the Media Lab story and articulate its vision, both internally and externally; experience demonstrating strong, effective, equitable, inclusive, and transparent management practices in a large or complex organization; comfort working in both academic and industry environments; and the ability to implement the lab’s research and funding strategy and see important trends and the potential role the lab can play at MIT and the world at large.
