Job Details

A Project Officer position is currently available in the School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design SERS chips for the real-time and on-site monitoring of greenhouse pollutants
  • Design and develop protocol to prepare high volume of low-cost SERS chips
  • Perform multiplex detection of SOx, NOx and CO2 and perform chemometric analysis on the data
  • Screen metal-organic-frameworks to determine coating material on SERS chip to increase SOx selectivity
  • Prepare reports and manuscripts on greenhouse gas detection with SERS
  • Mentor undergraduate students and provide training in nanoparticle and SERS-related research

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/Material Chemistry or related fields
  • Past experience in a plasmonics lab with strong background in probe-based SERS detection, chemometrics and machine learning
  • Experience in robot-assisted dispensing of SERS substrates, mass flow controller and SERS measurement
  • Good laboratory skills and high competency in SERS spectral analysis with chemometrics/machine learning

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
