Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Director of Licensing – Penn Dental Medicine, Penn Nursing, and School of Veterinary Medicine, this individual will lead the identification, evaluation, protection, marketing and licensing efforts for technologies with commercial potential from the Schools of Veterinary Medicine, Dental Medicine, Nursing, Graduate School of Education, Annenberg School of Communication, Penn Law and other schools, as applicable.

Duties

Develop strong working relationships with investigators in the aforementioned schools and support all activities associated with technology commercialization.   Facilitate the establishment of research collaborations and alliances with industry.  Negotiate option and license agreements for intellectual property and tangible materials with established and start-up companies, and manage company relationships post-agreement execution.  Provide excellent customer and client service in all areas of effort and interaction.

Qualifications

Ph.D. required in a life science field, or equivalent doctoral degree, plus either 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience for the Assistant Director position or +5 years for the Associate Director position; understanding of research environment, preferably in higher education; excellent customer service skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.
