JOB PURPOSE

Direct the programs and functions of the National Board Resource Center (NBRC) in consultation with senior leadership.

About the National Board Resource Center

The National Board Resource Center is located at Stanford University and operates under the direction of Dr. Ira Lit. Its primary mission is to offer support to candidates for National Board certification, promote teacher leadership, and improve the quality of teaching in California schools. Its successful support program is staffed by Board certified teachers and is open to any eligible candidate. The NBRC helps teachers and administrators learn about ways to use National Board certification to advance professional practice and promote teaching quality in schools by providing information and support at its sessions at Stanford and through related outreach throughout the Bay Area.

Core Duties *

  • Lead strategic planning and analysis for the complex NBRC functions and programs with significant business and technical challenges requiring subject matter expertise;
  • Direct the development, implementation, administration and evaluation of functions and/or programs;
  • Oversee the interpretation, implementation and compliance with policies and regulations.  Recommend actions and/or resolve complex issues that often span organizational boundaries;
  • Represent the NBRC to external constituencies;
  • Manage outreach strategy that may include relationship development, communications and compliance;
  • May oversee or supervise staff in the development and implementation of functions or programs.

Minimum Requirements: Education and Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

Preferred Education: Master’s Degree or PhD

Preferred Experience: 8 years teaching experience

  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness.
  • Demonstrated creativity, problem solving, critical analysis, initiative, judgment and, decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and meet budget goals.
  • Demonstrated solid planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong relevant subject matter knowledge.
