About the position

Situated within the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine, the Bond University Medical Program is comprised of two sequential degrees, the Bachelor of Medical Studies and the Doctor of Medicine. The program has full accreditation with the Australian Medical Council and places a strong emphasis on the quality of student experience. The Quality Indicators of Learning and Teaching (QILT) rankings have listed Bond University Medicine number 1 in Australia for student satisfaction with teaching quality, student support and skill development.

To support a new intake of students in September 2020, multiple key academic appointments are available. These positions are ideal for individuals with capacity to promote a culture of excellence in medical education and research across a range of disciplines. This provides an opportunity for the Medical Program to further develop its teaching and research in First Nations Health and in interprofessional education.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates who can clearly demonstrate educational leadership. This key opportunity will be the Cohort Coordinator providing oversight of teaching quality, student support and assessment as students’ progress through the Bachelor of Medical Studies and enter the Doctor of Medicine. The position works closely with the Dean of Medicine to ensure that integration initiatives with the May 2020 cohort are well planned and run smoothly.

This appointment will teach into the Medical Program, within the successful candidates’ disciplinary expertise. It is also expected that research activity will be maintained in an area that is synergistic with existing research within the faculty. Particular areas of interest include but are not limited to medical education fields including curriculum development, student assessment, interprofessional education, stigma in healthcare, professionalism, First nations health and education, evidence based practice, social and behavioural science, psychology, urology or stem cell research.

The role will contribute more broadly to the Faculty and University by providing leadership in research and scholarship, teaching, academic administration and community engagement, particularly within the Medical Program team.

About the person:

To be considered for this appointment you will possess a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline. You will be recognised for outstanding academic practice within medical education, with well-developed leadership, management and team building skills and a performance record commensurate with level of appointment. An established research and publication record as well as research supervision experience is expected.

Salary details:

Remuneration for the appointment will commence at $145 988 plus 9.5% superannuation and will be commensurate with skills and experience. Salary packaging options are available for eligible employees.
