Cranfield’s Aerospace theme is led by Professor Iain Gray, and represents one of the largest academic centres in Western Europe for strategic applied research, development and design within aerospace. This is represented by a number of advanced facilities, tools and expertise in the field, including capabilities unique to Cranfield, and several close commercial partnerships with companies, including Airbus, BAE Systems, Boeing and Rolls Royce. The aerospace theme at Cranfield has also seen significant University investment over recent years, including the building of a new Aerospace Integration Research Centre (AIRC) in 2017, with Airbus and Rolls-Royce as co-investment partners. For further information please visit our website: https://www.cranfield.ac.uk/themes/aerospace

The Centre for Aeronautics within the Aerospace theme is one of the world’s largest centres for postgraduate education and research in aircraft design, aerodynamics, advanced modelling and simulation tools and methods. Two of the University’s flagship courses are delivered from the Centre: our master's programmes in Aerospace Vehicle Design and Aerospace Dynamics. These courses have run successfully since the establishment of the original Cranfield College of Aeronautics in 1946. For further information on the centre, please visit our website: https://www.cranfield.ac.uk/centres/centre-for-aeronautics

You will provide contribution and leadership in the development and operation of state of the art simulators at varying fidelities as well as in projects looking at the future of aviation incorporating alternative propulsion and new technologies. You will have a substantial reputation in your field and a proven track record of either teaching and MSc/PhD supervision or industrial experience in research and development. You will have a clear record of impact, having generated substantial and sustained research income.
