Skoltech Center for Hydrocarbon Recovery (CHR) invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Full Professor of petroleum geophysics with a tentative starting date of 01.01.2020 (later starting dates may also be considered).
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Engineering or related area. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in research, education and innovation activities related to exploration geophysics, emerging technologies in the areas of seismic imaging and reservoir monitoring, CO2 geosequestration. Achievements should be evidenced by a track record of education courses, trainings, supervised students (PhD, MS), joint research projects with industry, research publications in international journals, patents, editorships or membership of editorial boards of international journals, awards and so on. The successful candidate will further have a proven ability to make a significant research impact and provide strategic research and education leadership in one or several CHR research areas as well as to strengthen the CHR/Skoltech reputation in the oil and gas industry and academic standing.
Faculty duties include teaching at graduate level, advising student and innovation projects, conducting fundamental and applied research. All activities at Skoltech are carried out in English, therefore, candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
The mission of CHR is to deliver world-class research, education and innovation in the area of hydrocarbon recovery. A special emphasis is placed on exploration and production of unconventional and hard-to-recover resources. Main CHR research directions are geomechanics, enhanced oil recovery, technologies for exploration and production of unconventional reservoirs, advanced reservoir simulations, permafrost and gas hydrates. CHR closely cooperates with the Russian industry and lets its activities be driven by existing and future technological needs of oil and gas industry. CHR collaborates closely with other research centers of Skoltech and with leading Russian and international research universities including Moscow State University Moscow, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, University of Oil and Gas named Gubkin, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Calgary, University of Herriot-Watt, and others.
