Assistant/Associate/Professor of Practice in Hydrocarbon Recovery Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery

Skoltech Center for Hydrocarbon Recovery (CHR) invites applications for a faculty position with a tentative starting date of September 2020 (later starting dates may be considered).

A candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Physics, Mechanics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Petroleum Engineeringand have extensive practical experience in  experimental design of chemical enhanced oil recovery methods (EOR), waterflood and production optimization, improved and enhanced oil recovery methods development and implementation, chemical additives for EOR including surfactants and polymers. He / She has to have comprehensive understanding of special core analyses and chemical EOR experimental design methods and be able to design and implement an chemical enhaced oil recovery method for different reservoirs including carbonate reservoirs and low permeable reservoirs.. Industrial experience in design and implementation of EOR projects is essential..

The candidate has to have proven competence in generating complex proposals for enhanced oil recovery R&D projects, negotiating contracts with industry partners, as well as their further execution. The candidate has to have at least 5 years of experience of research supervision and management of large international research projects, executed by multicultural and multidisciplinary teams. Previous lecturing experience in English as well as good research and business relationships with international educational and scientific institutions are essential.

The successful candidate will have a proven ability to make a significant research impact and provide strategic research and education leadership in one or several CHR research disciplines to develop the CHR/Skoltech reputation in oil and gas industry and academic standing. Faculty duties include teaching at graduate level, advising student and innovation projects, conducting fundamental and applied research. All activities at Skoltech are carried out in English, therefore, candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

The mission of CHR is to conduct research, education and innovations in the area of hydrocarbon recovery. Special emphasis is placed on exploration and production of unconventional and hard-to-recover resources. Main CHR directions are geomechanics, enhanced oil recovery, technologies for exploration and production of unconventional reservoirs, advanced reservoir simulations, permafrost and gas hydrates. CHR closely cooperates with the Russian industry and focuses research, education and innovation activity on existing and future the technological needs of oil and gas industry. CHR collaborates closely with other Skoltech CREIs and with leading Russian and international research universities/centers including Moscow State University Moscow, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, University of Oil and Gas named Gubkin, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Calgary, University of Herriot-Watt, and others.
