A Senior Research Fellow position is currently available at the Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies (CDPT) in the School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences, within the National Research Foundation’s (NRF) Quantum Engineering Programme (QEP).

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead experimental, theoretical and numerical research exploring growth of superconducting films and fabrication of superconducting nanowires
  • Experimental work on materials exploration, optimization of films and superconducting nanowire devices performances
  • Work, generate ideas and experimentally prove them both independently and within team-working efforts with other researchers working on the project
  • Work in cleanrooms, growth laboratories and laser laboratories
  • Use simulation software for modelling of the experiments
  • Attend safety and all other necessary trainings, as per NTU policy
  • Travel nationally and internationally

Job Requirements

  • PhD in Physics, Optical Engineering, Material Science, or closely-related disciplines
  • 10 or more years of relevant research experience in superconducting film growth, characterization and device testing
  • A solid knowledge and in depth understanding of superconductivity, quantum and nano-optics, nanophotonics, etc
  • Experience with technologies for characterization of superconducting materials and testing of films and devices at cryogenic (liquid helium) temperatures
  • Experience with nanoscopic films inspection and fabrication methods such as e.g. FIB, TEM, SEM, EELS, EDX etc
  • Excellent track record of scientific publications in international peer reviewed journals
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong initiative
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
