Assistant Research Officer in the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 500657) (to commence on September 1, 2020 until August 31, 2023, on a three-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary) 

Applicants should possess a doctorate degree in Education, Linguistics, Chinese Language, Psychology, Social Science, Cognitive Science or a related discipline; at least 3 years’ post-qualification research experience; a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese); proficiency in MS Office application (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint); solid statistical skills; good communication, interpersonal, leadership and organisational skills; and the ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team. Preference will be given to those who have experience in conducting research in language education, teacher development and relevant areas, with academic publication experiences.  

The appointee will work for a project on learning Chinese as a second language (CSL) for kindergarteners and developing teachers’ skills in teaching CSL. He/She will assist the Project Investigators to oversee all research elements in the project, including establishing theoretical framework, setting research orientations and objectives, managing and supervising the Research Team in the collection and analysis of research data, drafting manuscripts and research reports, and knowledge dissemination. He/She will also need to provide research support for the preparation of the curriculum guide, learning and teaching resources, K3 - P1 transition and teacher professional development, and perform other duties as assigned.
