Queensland Brain Institute

The Queensland Brain Institute (QBI), established in 2003, has developed a reputation as one of the world's leading neuroscience research institutes.Part of The University of Queensland (UQ), the Institute is home to over 450 scientific staff led by 40 Group Leaders.

To focus on important areas, QBI has established two Institute Centres: The Science of Learning Centre, and The Clem Jones Centre for Ageing Dementia Research. The importance of QBI's research is demonstrated through publications in the most prestigious international journals and a very high success rate in NHMRC and ARC grants. Researchers at QBI investigate the function and disfunction of mammalian and invertebrate brain using state of the art techniques, using molecular, genetic, and computational tools as well as high end cellular imaging, and behavioural analysis.

About This Opportunity

The primary purpose of this position is to develop an impactful joint research program between the School of ITEE and the Queensland Brain Institute, bridging the domains of neuroscience and electrical engineering and driving interaction between the two organisational units; develop research activities in neurongineering; play a pivotal role in developing a high-quality programme in neuroengineering and contribute to teaching in the broader area of Electrical Engineering and Neurongineering, including course coordination and student supervision.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7 km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

What We Can Offer

A full-time, continuing position at Academic Level C or Level D (depending on experience and qualifications).

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range of AUD$119,548- $137,846 (Level C) and AUD$143,945-$158,584 (Level D), plus superannuation of up to 17%.

Selection Process

As part of the Selection Process, applicants shortlisted for interview will be required to present a seminar and mock lecture to members of the school community prior to their scheduled interview. Research seminars and lecture topics will be provided with adequate notice to shortlisted candidates.
