Research Fellow in Ultrasound-guided Interventions
Research in the newly established Department of Surgical and Interventional Engineering within the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences focuses on translating novel real-time multimodal imaging modalities in conjunction with novel surgical instrumentation to clinical practice. As part of this endeavour, the GIFT-Surg (Guided Instrumentation for Fetal Therapy and Surgery) project is looking for a research software engineer to complement their highly multidisciplinary team.
The post involves close and active collaboration with researchers, engineers and clinicians to identify clinical requirements and to design and develop clinical-grade software that will address those. Understanding the challenges of translating technological advancements to the clinical landscape, in particular medical device software quality management (QM) and risk mitigation processes, is an integral and essential aspect of this post.
