Lecturer, Medical Education

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine invites applicants with substantial experience of medical education and a track record of teaching excellence to apply for this full-time Lecturer faculty position. The primary focus of this role is that of a Team-Based Learning (TBL) facilitator, and to contribute to other key educational activities within the MBBS programme, which may include assessment, course evaluation, and student support. Some content expertise in a biomedical science area is desirable. In addition, the appointee will contribute to educational research and/or scholarship.

Responsibilities

The new faculty will join a multidisciplinary team to facilitate TBL sessions in the MBBS curriculum, primarily in Years 1 and 2.
The key responsibilities include:
• Facilitate TBL sessions, including e-TBL
• Provide expertise as a content expert, as appropriate
• Facilitate education development workshops
• Contribute to other key areas within the MBBS programme, which may include written examinations (question writing,
quality assurance, standard setting)
• To work in collaboration with Module Leads (Scientists and Clinicians) and the Course Evaluation team to respond to student
and education feedback, and to contribute to curriculum review, renewal and innovation.
• Contribute to medical education research and scholarship
• To provide pastoral care and support to students as a House Tutor
• To participate in student outreach events
• Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Director, Medical Education Research and Scholarship Unit (MERSU) and
Vice Dean, Education

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience as an educator in a tertiary education institution
• PhD in a biomedical science-related subject
• Broad educational experience
• Evidence of educational excellence
• Experience of active learning pedagogies, curriculum development, assessment and student support
