Job Description

A position is available to join a research group studying virus-host interactions of pathogenic viruses including SFTSV, Ebola, and Zika.  Applicants should have a strong desire to conduct research and a sound background in molecular and cellular biology.  Major skill sets required are previous research lab experience, the ability to do high quality work, and the ability to learn and adopt new methods.  Techniques employed include tissue culture, DNA, RNA & protein analysis, DNA cloning, CRISPR-mediated gene knockout, viral production, and illumina library construction and analysis.  In addition to performing experiements and analyzing data, the applicant will participate in lab meetings, research and read the scientific literature, and perform general lab duties.  this position is contingent on funding.

Qualifications

A Bachelors degreeand 0 to 1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education an experience required. Prior experience with a fast paced learning of a broad range of cell biology and molecular biology laboratory techniques required. A strong interest in virus-host interactions, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and desire to learn new techniques is required. Prior experience in a research laboratory is required.
