Support a current research program on HIV, substance use, and opioid medication assisted treatment within the Yale School of Medicine Section of Infectious Disease, AIDS Program.
Position will be responsible for recruiting clients with opioid use disorders who are interested in receiving opioid medication assisted therapy. Recruitment will occur at drug treatment programs and HIV clinics in New Haven, Hartford and other areas in CT as well as the CT Department of Corrections, and hospital settings. Also responsible for performing all research-related procedures including but not limited to: informed consent, conduct of interviews, phlebotomy, data collection and quality assurance. May assist other project staff with recruitment efforts and outreach, data management, amendments of project manuals and standard operating procedures, IRB submissions, and other administrative tasks.
- Researches and collects data through site or home visit intakes; library research; structured interviews; or through other means for research projects.
- Interprets, synthesizes, and analyzes data using scientific or statistical techniques. Modifies and plans research experiments, procedures, tests, or survey instruments. Assists in research design.
- Writes and edits material for publication and presentation. Reports on status of research activities. Oversees and instructs research and support staff on technical procedures, equipment operation, and laboratory maintenance.
- Schedules and coordinates research activities. Identifies and recruits study participants. Orders and maintains inventory of supplies.
- May assist in preparing financial information and monitoring budgets.
- Performs additional functions incidental to research activities.
Required Education and Experience
Two years of related work experience in the same job family and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Demonstrated ability conducting research study interviews, standardized measures of substances use and HIV medication adherence.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Demonstrated ability and willingness to work with people with HIV and other infectious diseases, and/or substance use disorders including injection drug users based on previous work experiences. Ability to work in criminal justice settings.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Ability to administer multiple survey measures without administration errors within three months on iPad or computer. Ability to concentrate and persist in loud and distracting environments. Demonstrated ability working with Microsoft Office Suite. Proven ability using RedCap or another relational database.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Ability to travel throughout CT and surrounding states for research interviews and recruitment.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
- Phlebotomy experience for research purposes is strongly preferred.
Preferred Licenses or Certifications:
Phlebotomy certificate (or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of employment).
