At TU Dresden, Faculty of Biology, the Chair of Botany at the Institute of Botany offers a position starting 01.09.2020 as a

Research Associate

(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated

according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

The position is limited until 30.06.2024. The period of employment is governed by Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG). The position aims at obtaining further academic qualification (PhD).

Tasks: Research in a transdisciplinary project combining botany and engineering, esp. the investigation of plant structural elements and materials which will later serve as models for new construction principles in carbon concrete components.

Requirements: university degree in Biology or Engineering. As a biologist you should have a good knowledge of morphology, anatomy and biomechanics of plants and the willingness to familiarise with engineering specific aspects of material characterisation and at least a basic understanding of finite element modelling. As an engineer the reverse is true.

We offer an exciting interdisciplinary research environment within the framework of the SFB / Transregio 280 in close cooperation with many partners from engineering.
