Associate Dean of Marquand Chapel
Reporting to the Dean of Yale Divinity School and collaborating with the Marquand Chapel committee, the Associate Dean of Marquand Chapel develops the vision for and implementation of worship in Marquand Chapel which meets daily during term and for special occasions throughout the year. Two staff report directly to the Associate Dean: a full-time Liturgical Assistant (YDS) who coordinates the production of daily chapel and a Director of Chapel Music (ISM) who devotes 50% of her/his time to direct the music in Marquand. The position of Associate Dean of Chapel comes with a faculty appointment in the Yale Institute of Sacred Music at an appropriate rank; the Associate Dean is expected to teach one course per term (33.3%) in a relevant discipline.
Performs assigned middle level professional duties that support the goals and objectives of a department/unit.
Required Education and Experience
Academic qualifications, including an advanced degree, in an appropriate theological discipline and two years of experience in active leadership of worship or equivalent combination of education and experience. Appreciation and understanding of the importance of music and the arts.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Demonstrated ability to function in a context with diverse traditions of worship.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Ph.D. in a relevant discipline. Training in music.
