About the role

The University is seeking to appoint a Director, Financial Performance to lead a team of financial specialists to support the University’s objectives and strategic direction by providing leadership on reporting, dissemination and communication of financial information.

The Director will play a key role in engaging the University’s Senior Executive and ensure they are well versed in understanding and interpreting the financial performance data of the University, and informed about financial trends in operating, cash flow and balance sheet reporting.

Reporting to the Vice President (Finance), the Director will manage a team in the delivery of client-focussed services to the University community. As a key member of the University’s senior management team, the Director will be responsible for driving a culture of innovation, high performance and excellence in service delivery.

The successful candidate can nominate a Gold Coast or Lismore based appointment. Gold Coast based appointments will require regular travel to the Lismore campus each week. Relocation support will be available to the successful candidate if relocating to the Gold Coast or Northern Rivers area for this opportunity.

An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

We are seeking applications from experienced financial management and performance leaders who demonstrate expertise in supporting the strategic objectives of a large organisation with effective dissemination and communication of financial information. You should have a proven track record of successfully engaging senior management, enabling informed decision making to ensure the realisation of the organisation’s financial goals.

With expertise in current accounting, financial and commercial practices, you will demonstrate the ability to drive innovation and service enhancement processes to deliver exceptional service to our internal clients.

Applicants must have exceptional leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven ability to effectively communicate with diverse client groups and influence strategic, evidenced-based decision making.

  • provide reliable, accurate and timely information relating to financial performance to University Council, senior executive and managers of business units; and
  • facilitate the University’s budget and forecast processes, providing financial analysis and advice to senior executive.
