One Research Associate position is currently available in Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, NTU. The role is needed to fulfill the objectives and achieve the deliverables for the grant project – PiONEERS: Public Opinion of Nuclear Energy and other EneRgy Sources. This project aims to examine public perceptions toward various conventional energy sources (e.g., wind, solar, coal, hydro) in relation to nuclear energy. This project also aims to make comparisons across Southeast Asian countries with emerging plans for nuclear energy (Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore) in terms of public perceptions toward various energy sources.

Job Responsibilities

  • Engage in conducting literature searches and manuscript preparation and in survey conceptualization and design
  • Conduct statistical analyses with quantitative survey data
  • Engage in focus group conceptualization and design
  • Conduct content analysis with qualitative focus group data
  • Contirbute in research publications and presentations
  • Report on progress at meetings and in writing to the research team
  • Engage in the dissemination of the results of the research with the support of and under the supervision of the Principal Investigator
  • Carry out administrative work associated with the program of research as necessary

Job Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in communication, psychology, sociology, or a social science related discipline
  • Strong foundation in survey research and analytical skills (e.g., SPSS, MPLUS, or R)
  • Strong foundation in focus group research and analytical skills (e.g. NVIVO)
  • A team player in a project setting, also with ability to work independently in a multi-cultural team environment
  • Must demonstrate initiative and good interpersonal communication skills
  • An internationally recognized research track record as evidenced by journal publications and conference presentations
