Job Description Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, organized and vibrant individual to join a translational cancer genomics research program as a Clinical Research Coordinator A.  The Maxwell Laboratory is using patient samples to study the role of inherited DNA repair genes in tumor formation and response to therapy. Our laboratory also performs correlative studies to understand the underlying biology of response to treatments in a variety of oncological disease sites. 

The Clinical Research Coordinator A will perform a variety of tasks related to clinical translational research, including but not limited to:

  1. Screen clinical records for patient eligibility to research studies.
  2. Interact with both pediatric and adult patients with inherited cancer syndromes in a variety of clinical settings to consent patients to studies and collect biospecimens.  
  3. Maintain and create Redcap and LabVantage sample databases for tracking of patients and samples.
  4. Maintain and submit documents to the Institutional Review Board and for other regulatory aspects of the studies, including materials and data use agreements.
  5. Use manual chart review and as per experience Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools for the phenotyping portion of studies using Electronic Heath Records (EHR) data, working with the laboratory’s collaborators in Clinical Informatics. 
  6. Work with the PI directly on a number of organizational aspects of the laboratory.

Bachelor’s degree required.  Experience with databases and clinical and/or translational research preferred.

Job Description

This position will assist in the management of multiple clinical trials and responsibilities in specific research area. Coordinate the screening of patients, subject enrollment, collection and storage of biological samples and related study documents, and collection of clinical data. Assist with Institutional Review Board (IRB) filings and inquiries, and assist in the preparation of manuscripts, grant proposals, and research related presentations. Works closely with the Principal Investigator, manager, and study team to identify problems and develop solutions. Implement approved changes to procedures as needed and monitor results. Responsible for study coordination for investigator-initiated studies, multi-center research studies, and patient-oriented clinical and translational research projects.


Bachelor's Degree with 1-3 years of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
