Overview

Participate in the design, development and operation of state of the art instrumentation and control systems in support of a wide range of current and future projects at PPPL.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, Maintain, Support software in a Linux environment. (55%)
  • Daily operation and maintenance of Control and Monitoring System. (10%)
  • Computer Administration. (20%)
  • Embedded System development and support. (15%)

Qualifications

Experience and Expectation: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering
  • 0-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Computing Competencies include:
    • Experience with programming languages: C++, python
    • Experience with Linux : (Redhat, CentOS, Ubuntu)
    • Experience with Ethernet protocols (TCP, UDP)
    • Exposure to Version control Software (SVN, GIT)
  • Ability to work with a diverse set of scientists, engineers and technical staff with varying skill levels and backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to physically lift, move and install typical rack mountable equipment: 5%
  • The ability to occasionally work in awkward positions by bending, stooping, crawling and climbing ladder should be expected: 5%
