Description

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Chicago invites applications for a position at the rank of Assistant Instructional Professor.  Appointments at this rank are for a term of one or two years with the possibility of renewal.  Initial position responsibilities include teaching courses at the general chemistry level as well as university-wide Physical Sciences courses designed for non-science majors, during the fall, winter, and spring quarters.  Duties also include contributions to the effective functioning of departmental programs of instruction, as well as ongoing professional development.  Screening will begin on May 18, 2020, and will continue until the position is filled. This is a career-track position with potential progression, competitive salary, and benefits.

The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the University.

Qualifications

Completion of a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or a closely related field is required prior to the start of appointment. You should be qualified to teach a range of undergraduate courses, including all elements of general chemistry.
