Applications are invited for appointment as Full-time / Part-time Lecturer (holding the title of Curriculum Development Officer) in the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 500457) (to commence on September 1, 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter until August 31, 2021, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above (preferably a Master’s degree or above) in mathematics, mathematics education or a related discipline; a professional teaching qualification; and at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience in teaching mathematics, preferably at primary level. They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, and knowledge of educational research. Experience in providing school support, developing school-based curriculum and/or teaching mathematics, and a good understanding of ethnic minority students are advantages.
The appointee will work for a Quality Education Fund (QEF) project on catering for culturally and linguistically diverse learners in primary mathematics. He/She will provide support to the professional development of mathematics teachers at the project schools, and play a crucial role in leading collaborative lesson planning at different project schools by attending the collaborative lesson planning meetings, observing the lessons and evaluating teachers’ teaching and students’ learning, which are crucial to the development of the mathematical understanding of the chosen curriculum units/topics. He/She will also monitor the school-based curriculum development process, including the design of curriculum materials and the evaluation of the implementation, and conduct professional development workshops for teachers at the project schools.
