Research Specialist A

Job Description Summary

Plans and conducts basic experiments to meet research project objectives, with close supervision. Assists in performing laboratory experiments and clinical studies for product or material formulation and development. Daily management of laboratory tool, documentations and processes to ensure regulatory compliance and timely completion of project/program deliverables. Closely collaborates with Senior Research Specialists and Principal Investigator (PI) on experimental/clinical work set ups in accordance to established protocols.

Job Description

The candidate will be a researcher with a knowledge in animal science and will work on projects investigating the impact of biologics and small-molecule inhibitors on the immune reaction to cancer using multiple mouse models. The research specialist will be expected to independently perform experiments, analyze data, and prepare data summaries. He/she will also work collaboratively in the laboratory. The successful candidate will have a strong skill set in writing, presentation and data analysis.

Research Specialist A:

(1) conducting studies in multiple mouse models involving injections (i.v, i.p, s.c.), tissue harvesting, blood collection, small animal surgeries, and small animal ultrasonography, (2) tissue acquisition and processing of mouse samples for analysis of RNA and single cell profiling, (3) performing multi-dimensional flow cytometry, (4) maintaining a mouse colony (genotyping, husbandry, weaning, ear tagging, breeding), (5) monitoring of tumors in cancer models,  (7) keeping inventory, and ordering supplies as needed. Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: (3) assisting with setting up laboratory-related aspects of new research studies; (4) maintaining logs, laboratory reports, and regulatory documents, and (5) other tasks as needed such as laboratory setup, coordination of studies, specimen collection, tissue processing/histology and data analysis.

Research Specialist B:

(1) conducting complex studies independently in multiple mouse models involving injections (i.v, i.p, s.c.), tissue harvesting, blood collection, small animal surgeries, and small animal ultrasonography. (2) tissue acquisition and processing of mouse samples for analysis of RNA and single cell profiling, (3) performing multi-dimensional flow cytometry, (4) maintaining a mouse colony (genotyping, husbandry, weaning, ear tagging, breeding), (5) monitoring of tumors in cancer models, (6) preparation and analysis of data for development of presentations and reports displaying study results, and (7) keeping inventory, and ordering supplies as needed. Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: (1) assisting with writing standard laboratory/research operations documentations; (2) recommending improvements for operations; (3) assisting with setting up laboratory-related aspects of new research studies; (4) maintaining logs, laboratory reports, and regulatory documents, and (5) other tasks as needed such as laboratory setup, coordination of studies, specimen collection, tissue processing/histology and data analysis

Position is contingent on continued funding. Qualifications:

Qualifications:

Research Specialist A:

Bachelor's Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Strong organizational skills, written and oral communication skills are required.

Research Specialist B:

Bachelor's Degree with 1-3 years of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Strong organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently are required.
