ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS/DIRECTOR OF MULTICULTURAL RECRUITMENT, Office of Admissions, to develop strategies and programs to enroll well-matched, underrepresented students of color. Will report to the director of admissions and serve on the admissions leadership team and as a senior admissions officer. Will lead the multicultural recruitment team, directly or indirectly supervising three professional admissions officers; and foster strong relationships with key partners, including community-based organizations throughout the country, MIT multicultural student and alumni/ae groups, and partner offices at MIT including the Office of Minority Education (OME) and the Office of Engineering Outreach Programs (OEOP). As a full member of the admissions selection committee, will review and select undergraduate applicants with a full admissions caseload. Other duties include several weeks of national and local travel to conduct student outreach and meet with alumni/ae, welcoming prospective students and their families to campus, and assisting with other recruitment and yield activities as needed. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred); at least five years’ experience working in college admissions, multicultural student affairs, or a related field; experience working with multicultural students and their families; strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate around sensitive issues; experience with staff supervision and project management within a complex organization charged with multiple priorities and objectives; analytical and strategic thinking skills; good judgment and discretion; and a driver's license.. Regular evening and weekend work will be required during the academic year. Several weeks of travel by air annually can also be expected.  Please note that currently, due to the pandemic, all travel and in-person recruitment activities have been suspended. Recruitment travel programs will resume when safe to do so from a public health perspective.
