Job Description Summary

The Betley lab in the Biology department at the University of Pennsylvania is looking for a senior research specialist. The position will involve planning for and supporting ongoing experiments, maintaining the laboratory, and performing independent research. We perform neuroscience and behavioral experiments on rodent models and flexibility in work hours is desirable. Prior experience with stereotaxic surgery, rodent behavioral experiments and molecular biology are considered a plus.

Job Description


  • Design and execute stereotaxic surgical procedures on genetically modified mouse lines
  • Maintain genetically modified mouse colony
  • Plan and execute behavioral experiments with genetically modified mouse lines
  • Maintain laboratory reagents used in behavior and histology


Bachelor's Degree with 1-3 year of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is required. Prior experience with stereotaxic surgery, rodent behavioral experiments and molecular biology preferred.
