DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS OPERATIONS, Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center (MGHPCC), to oversee all business functions at MGHPCC, which serves Boston University, Harvard, MIT, Northeastern and UMass. Will work with the management team to ensure that the MGHPCC is a cost-effective and easy-to-use resource for the research, education, and operations groups that it serves; and maintain productive working relationships with people at all levels within its client organizations, funding agencies, contractors, collaborators, and the local government and business community. Principal responsibilities include managing business relationships with members, vendors, collaborators, and government agencies; handling day-to day business operations, including oversight of a bookkeeper, financial forecasting, budget tracking, accounting, tax, insurance, and contracts; managing federal, state, and foundation grants; and acting as the lead point of contact with the MIT HR organization; and managing annual audits.
Principal MGHPCC activities include operating a data center in Holyoke MA that serves more than 20,000 university researchers and educators; encouraging collaborative computationally intensive research among its users and across the Northeast; and making a positive impact in the community where the data center is located.

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in a related field; at least five years of finance and administration experience; comfort performing work at many different levels, ranging from budget spreadsheets to contract negotiations to board presentations; facility working with complex spreadsheets; comfort extracting and analyzing information from the accounting system and other databases; good written and in person communication skills; strong service orientation; and the ability to serve as a backup to the MGHPCC bookkeeper and to stand in for the executive director.
